Using a Vegetarian Christmas Party Recipe

from:

Entertaining is one of the most exciting aspects of the holiday season. When planning a party many people enjoy compiling the menu, deciding on decorations, and writing out their guest list. Plenty of things can make planning a Christmas party a challenge, but one of the biggest challenges that you may encounter is how to handle a guest who is vegetarian. This situation isn’t as difficult to overcome as you may think. It isn’t hard to find and plan for a vegetarian Christmas party recipe.

The first thing the thoughtful host/hostess will want to do is contact their vegetarian guest. Like anyone else, there may be additional concerns like allergies or dislikes to consider. Most vegetarians are aware that there will be questions regarding their food choices and as long as the subject is approached diplomatically, your vegetarian guest will have no problem providing answers for you. They may even be able to provide meat free suggestions to you or offer to help by bringing a dish from their collection of vegetarian Christmas party recipe.

As far as the main entrée is concerned, it is perfectly acceptable to prepare the traditional turkey or ham for the majority of your guests. A vegetable lasagna would be a change from the normal and your meat-eating guests may enjoy a change of pace as well. When preparing vegetarian dishes be sure to watch the labels on your ingredients. Some food items like cheese sometimes have animal products in the ingredient list. Side dishes are usually a good choice for vegetarian guests. Be sure to provide a lot of appetizers and sides that are vegetable based. No one is going to be disappointed in a large vegetable tray or well-prepared tomato soup. Try to think outside the box and coming up with your own vegetarian Christmas party recipe will be easy.

The Internet is an amazing resource for finding a vegetarian Christmas party recipe. A search engine search will yield some incredible results. Not only will you find recipe ideas, but also other tips for making your vegetarian guest comfortable. Some specific sites to check out are www.christmas.allrecipes.com and www.vegsoc.org, the website of the vegetarian society.

Making your vegetarian guests feel at home just requires a little extra planning and thought. All any other guest in your home, they will do their best to be accommodating and will greatly appreciate all of your extra work on their behalf. Even if your menu is unique from the traditional holiday party, you will have the peace of mind of knowing that all of your guests were well taken care of thanks to your vegetarian Christmas party recipe.
