Having a Christmas Party Theme

from:

Everyone is familiar with Christmas parties. People gather together to eat a lot of delicious food, enjoy each others company, and admire babies and children. Its a time honored tradition. While those parties certainly are wonderful ways to celebrate the holidays, trying something new would definitely add some sparkle to the same celebrations. One way to liven things up would be to host a gathering with a Christmas party theme.

Most areas in this country are cold and dreary during December. If people arent dealing with snow, then cold rain and freezing temperatures are the conditions putting a damper on the festivities. With this in mind, consider having a Hawaiian party. A tropical theme is a fantastic Christmas party theme. Throw in some grass skirts, topical cocktails, and Hawaiian Christmas music. Your guests will love the change of pace and the thought of warmer weather to come. An Internet search would provide a lot of great ideas for menu and decoration planning.

A more traditional, yet unique, take on a Christmas party theme would be to pick one aspect of the holiday to highlight. For example, if you are a snowman nut, plan your party around that theme. Serve a snowman shaped cake on a similarly designed paper plates and napkins. Cream cheese balls can be shaped to resemble a snowman easily. If children will be attending the celebration, provide shaving cream or whipped topping for them to build their own indoor snow people. No one said the adults couldnt get in on the fun as well.

Throwing 1800s inspired party would be lots of fun too. Decorate your home as authentically as possible. Maybe a friend who plays piano would play traditional carols while everyone enjoyed singing all of those old, beautiful Christmas songs. Stay in the Christmas party theme with the menu as well. Consider serving roast goose, steamed pudding, and mincemeat pie to stay in touch with the idea of Christmas past. Choose someone with a pleasant speaking voice to read a passage from A Christmas Carol. This party theme would be entertaining to guests of all ages.

Another Christmas party theme to consider would be a craft party. Gather all kinds of crafting supplies, some instructions for Christmas ornaments and decorations. This would be a great party for a snowy afternoon. Serve eggnog, hot cocoa, and cookies. It doesnt get anymore Christmas-like than that.

Having a unique Christmas party is just a matter of thinking outside of the traditional box. Your guests will appreciate an opportunity to explore Christmas in a different way.
