Deciding on a Christmas Party Invitation

from:

Everything is ready to go. You have your menu planned out, the party decorations are decided on, and now all you have to do wait for the guests to arrive. Hang on a second, what about the choosing a Christmas party invitation? No one is going to forget the invitations, that is obviously an exaggeration. But many people do stress over their holiday party invitations. Since most people receive so many each year, it is important to make sure yours stands out from the crowd and draws attention.

The first thing to decide on is what type of Christmas party invitation you want to use. The traditional mailed invitation is still popular believe it or not. Other party givers choose to invite guests over the phone or by sending an email. All of the options are acceptable. It all depends on what works best for you.

Let’s start with the snail mailed invitation. A benefit to this method is that your guests will have a written reminder of the event. There are also several options to choose from. You could buy a generic Christmas party invitation set at the store and personalize them at home or consider having a printer engrave your invitations with the designs, colors, and layout you want. In this computer savvy age, many people are opting to create their personal invitation on the computer using programs like click art and Photoshop. This method is usually well received by potential guests because of the highly personal aspect of the invitation. When mailing invitations remember to request an RSVP from your guests.

Moving on to the telephone option. This method of Christmas party invitation is a little harder to be creative. You could sing a Christmas carol to the answering machine. No one would forget that. The advantage is you know the guest got the invitation and you may get responses immediately. A disadvantage would be that the guests wouldn’t have a written reminder to remind them of the details of the event.

Emailing a Christmas party invitation is like having the best of both worlds. You can easily personalize your greeting using an e-card program. It eliminates the need for postage and responses are easier to receive because many guests will respond when they open their invite. Be careful with this one though, some people don’t feel that an email invitation is proper. However, most guests will understand that this is a busy time of year and will probably be grateful that invitations aren’t stuffing their mailboxes.

Regardless of which method you choose to send invitations, make sure your guests have plenty of notice and include all of the important details. After that, just watch the responses roll in and get ready to have the time of your life.
