Nightmare Before Christmas
from:Christmas is a time when family and friends gather to celebrate, spend time together, exchange gifts and catch up on events of the last year. It is a magical, joyous, festive occasion when children are excited about Santa coming and parents are busy decorating the house with lovely ornaments that only come out once a year.
Unfortunately there are so many things that a person needs to do leading up to the big day that people often feel like it is a nightmare before Christmas. Making plans to get together with your family and friends, cooking, shopping, organizing events, just to name a few, certainly does make you wonder if the nightmare before Christmas is starting. Here are some tips that can help you put your nightmare before Christmas to rest:
Your Shopping Nightmare before Christmas
To end this nightmare, you need to plan and stop leaving everything to the very last second. First, figure out a reasonable budget so you know exactly how much money you can spend for gift buying and stay within that budget. You do not want to overspend and then try, for the next six months, to get out of a financial hole. If money is tight or the group is very large, talk to other family members about drawing names, so everyone only has one person to buy for, and put a limit on the amount of each gift. Another great idea is that instead of exchanging gifts, each person donates a gift to charity. Again, put a limit on the amount everyone spends. Take a list with you of everyone you needs gifts for, including friends. Add a few boxes of chocolate or little gifts to your list. Do your shopping ahead of time, so you get a good selection of merchandise with no crowds to fight. Immediately wrap your gifts when you get them home. Wrap the boxes of chocolates or little gifts you bought and put a blank tag of them. If someone unexpected drops in over the holidays, you have a gift ready. Shopping and wrapping ahead of time frees up valuable time at Christmas.
Cooking Nightmare before Christmas
Make a grocery list of everything needed for Christmas dinner. Go shopping ahead of time so there is no last minute rush. Order your turkey well in advance if you need a very large one or prefer it fresh. Bake and freeze the Christmas cookies, pies or other goodies. If you are having a big Christmas dinner, ask everyone to bring a specific dish. Clean your vegetables except the potatoes and put them in plastic food storage bags so there is no cleaning and chopping Christmas day. In other words, do everything you can ahead of time so you have more time to spend enjoying your family and friends.
By doing everything you can ahead of time, it removes a lot of stress allowing you to enjoy this wonderful holiday.
