Christmas Gift

from:

Christmas is that magical time of year when we slow down and spend quality time with our loved ones. It is a time to share with our family, friends, co-workers, even people that we have never met, and probably never will. A Christmas gift is our way of telling someone we love them, others that we appreciate him or her, or letting the less fortunate know that we do care.

A wonderful Christmas gift to ourselves is doing something special for a person or family less fortunate than we are. Here are just a few of many ideas for a special Christmas gift:

* Donate toys or food to people less fortunate
* Adopt a family at Christmas and supply their Christmas dinner, gifts for the family and even a Christmas tree.
* Invite someone that would normally spend Christmas alone to spend it with your family.
* Work in a soup kitchen, a food bank or other charity that can always extra help
* Visit a nursing home and spend some time with a person that gets very little company

Buying for your children, especially if they are young is usually easy. Have them give you a list starting with the gift they want the most. The children are the best source of Christmas gift ideas for you and relatives that have no idea what to buy your children. For older children or ones that have moved away from home, talk to them and see what they would like or need. Keep your eyes opened when you visit them and you may notice something they could use. As a last resort, money is always gratefully accepted.

For children looking for a special Christmas gift for mom or day, nothing means as much to them as a handmade gift. Paper flowers for mom or a tray made out of Popsicle sticks for dad is priceless. For older children or young adults, a card with a special note inside is perfect. Give your father tickets for a free car wash by you or your mother a ticket for a meal that you cook, serve, and watch their faces light up Christmas morning.

A great gift for friends or co-workers that love gardening is a gorgeous Christmas cactus or orchid. You could give them a gift certificate to a nursery or a basket filled with gardening accessories such as gloves and plant food. You can do the same for a sports lover with tickets to a game or a jersey of their favorite team. For sports people, give them personalized golf balls, new fishing lures or even a jersey of their favorite team.

A wonderful gift that a couple can give each other is a weekend away. Arrange for just the two of you to stay somewhere special and have a special, romantic vacation. Spend a little time and select the perfect gift.
